Abandoning Your Christian Beliefs By Voting For A Politician

Who would Jesus vote for?

Abandoning Your Christian Beliefs By Voting For A Politician

Where do we draw the line between our political views and our religion? I'm very tired of hearing more about politics in church than Jesus. I'm tired of hearing more racist, hateful and ungodly discussions at church than about the works of Jesus. As Christians, why are we letting the current presidential election trump (no pun intended) our relationship with the Lord? Sometimes we place more importance on what political party we belong to rather than our relationship with God. Political parties are good at dividing a nation based on beliefs. As a nation approaching a critical crossroad, this is not the time to further divide ourselves. Regardless of what political party you subscribe to, neither party is as equipped to put our nation back on track than our God. We are one nation under God, not political parties.

It is not wise to put our faith in politicians. As written in Psalm 146, "Don't put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there." Politicians answer to the same God as everyone else. They are not above the average citizens, and they certainly have not achieved godly status. The people running for president are running for a reason, and though that reason may be unknown to us, God knows. God has a plan, and the current state of our nation is following His will. We must pray and ask God for wisdom as well as guidance for our country. No matter your political beliefs, as Christians we must all agree that without God, America will not prosper. This is why it is so utterly important to not abandon your religious beliefs when deciding who to vote for. Base your vote off of what is right, just and biblical. Do not base your vote off of your own prejudice beliefs.

So, what would Jesus do? How would He approach the current political season? My best advice is to place your vote based on the issues, not the politician. In my personal opinion, I cannot, with a clear conscience, vote for any of the candidates based on the kind of person they are. These people are sinners like ourselves, just trying to improve the state of our nation. Judge each candidate's political stances in terms of what is biblical. Is it biblical to build a wall? Is it biblical to fund planned parenthood? Is it biblical to turn away refugees? This is why it is important to turn to the Bible rather than our own opinions. It is easy for our beliefs to fall in a gray area between right and wrong. Use the Word to guide your stance on political issues. After all, like it says in Proverbs, we must trust in the Lord with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
