I'm Pro-Life And I Don't Want Planned Parenthood Defunded

There is so much more to Planned Parenthood than the one service that I don't like.

Hello, my name is Pro-Life Supporter. If you lean to the liberal side, you might have an assortment of really mean names to call me and unkind things you say. That’s okay with me. It’s good to have such a passion for something that you couldn’t care less what people have to say about it. Other I’m pretty progressive in my political views, and I am fairly certain I have more liberal opinions than conservative. My view is that as long as it isn’t causing harm to another human being, then it really is none of my business.

I’m not going to get into the science behind it in this article, although I may post one dedicated to that eventually, but unborn babies are human beings (who just so happen to be alive). There is really no disputing that – take a basic biology course or read a peer-reviewed journal about the topic. People will try to say otherwise, but please, please, please look at the facts. Arguing the opposite shows that one is truly uneducated on the topic and has allowed biased propaganda to cloud their mind.

Obviously, I don’t like the fact that Planned Parenthood is a supporter and performer of abortion. I don’t like that I’ve witnessed situations where they desensitize people to the truth about abortion. I don’t like that they have been accused of selling aborted fetal tissue. I don't like the horror stories. I am saddened by a lot of things surrounding Planned Parenthood and abortion.

But, abortion isn’t all that Planned Parenthood offers to their clients. They offer birth control, healthcare for both women and men, cancer screening, STD testing and treatment, and prenatal care, among so many other services.

So, here’s the situation. Abortion breaks my heart, and I wish that every woman would or could choose life. But do I want to defund Planned Parenthood? No way. What if someone I love got pregnant but couldn’t afford prenatal care because Planned Parenthood didn’t exist? Would that really help her make the decision to choose life? I don’t think so.

If you’re pro-life and have dedicated your time to shouting on the streets about how Planned Parenthood needs to be brought down, please just think about all the valuable services offered, not just the one we don’t like. I know that they and many others aren’t very pleasant towards us - they don’t let us represent ourselves on the mainstage - but think about all your fellow picketers who may someday need their other services.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
