I've stayed quiet because I wanted to see how the aftermath of all of the Charlottesville destruction and tragedy would play out in the eyes of our President. I think it's safe to say it's been long enough.
He was put in office because people admired the "fact" that he "spoke the truth" and "wasn't afraid to say what everyone else was thinking"...am I right? So, why isn't that applicable now? Where is his big, bold mouth now? He hounded and pounded Obama for not saying the words "radical Islamic terrorism," so why isn't he calling this an act of terror?
It's almost as if he feeds off the image the media "gives" him. It seems like a huge part of the way he reels in and maintains his presence among supporters; blaming the media. But the truth is he chooses to make things incredibly difficult for himself when it could've been so easy. Yes, there have absolutely been violent protests on the left and he was usually the first one to rightfully speak out against them, so why is it different this time. Oh, wait. Is it because the counter protesters "started it?"
Yes, they absolutely antagonized the alt-right protesters, and may very well have "started" it, but let's not forget who ended it by murdering people...it's a little different, don't you think? I also don't see any of the "cry baby snowflake don't you have a job" posts and comments that I saw every time there was a protest about women's rights or any other left-led protest...weird how that works.
President Trump also claimed that not all of the Charlottesville protesters that day were white supremacists and Nazis....why then when police officers were shot in Baton Rouge and the disgusting criminals claimed that they were with BLM was the whole movement denounced? Is this not the same exact thing.
So, let me get this straight. If you're physically standing with a group, or you claim you are a part of a group, why isn't everyone who is on that side condemned? In the past there was no hesitation to place blame on the whole BLM group when violent acts broke out, so why is it different with this? If you wanted to protest the destruction of the statue, fine, but you're still standing with a huge group claiming to be Neo-nazis, just like the situation with BLM. It works both ways. You don't get to pick and choose out of those standing with the neo-Nazi side who was and wasn't a white supremacist. It's all or nothing; they knew what they were standing with.
I find myself saying this again to Mr. President Trump; practice what you preach and call acts of terror what they are, just like you led with in your campaign. You're not afraid to sugar coat things, so start proving it.
