Today, I woke up to see that the city I once called home had been attacked. Today, I woke up to see my friends checking in as safe on Facebook because the largest mass shooting in American history had occurred last night. Today, 50 families have started a new day without their precious loved ones. Today, friends and victims had to start a new day with a feeling of fear. Today, multiple people are still searching and hoping that their loved ones are safe. Today, people have gathered in front of the hospital holding the victims, and they have started donating blood.
As many of you know, last night there was a mass shooting at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida. As the death tolls continued to rise this morning, many questions have been asked. Today, we have learned that 50 lives were taken last night and 53 more people are in the hospital, many of them fighting for their lives. As people sitting behind a screen searching for answers, I ask you to please stop and pray for the victims' families and the injured victims as well. In this moment of terror, we need to be thankful for the people who took action, both law enforcement and the average people who fought to help in the midst of it all. I cannot begin to fathom the pain that hundreds of people are going through today. As a country who is fearful of the future and broken due to this incident, I ask again that we pray.
I know that many of us long to help, but we feel we are unable to do so. I do want to add that multiple GoFundMe campaigns have been created. Although this is a small act, donating is something we can do to help cover medical costs for victims, as well as funeral costs. This small act can go a long way, and it can help start the healing process for mourning loved ones.
During this devastating moment for not only families, but for America as a whole, let's take a few moments to slow down and count our blessings. Let's not spread hate on social media, but instead, let's come together as a broken country. Let's heal those affected through our words and our prayers. Let's show people with similar horrific ideas that we are unbreakable because we are united through faith, perseverance and love.
Today, take the time to tell someone you love them. Hug your family and friends, and think of the good times you have shared. Come together to mourn for our fellow Americans, and say a prayer for those that we have lost.
"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death' or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." Revelation 21:4
