A Prayer For The Victims In Orlando
rosaire-de-marie.fr

I recently just started a summertime job, and so between the hours I work for that along with the other activities I'm involved with, I haven't been on social media much of lately. I may go to check it for a few minutes once every 2 hours, but my mind has been so scattered trying to adjust to the new adventure of being home from college with more "adulting" involved. I've heard little crime stories that have gone in my town, but the most latest development in the world came loud in clear.

A massacre has taken place, and people are calling it the worst mass shooting in US history, according to NBC News. At least 50 people are now dead as a result, and more than 50 are wounded, all because of one guy.

I can't ever say, I have ever been involved in this kind of violence, or have much less been affected by it. So therefore, I'm not able to tell these people that I know what they're going through. I am, however, able to sympathize with them, as I know they are feeling incredibly hurt right now. So my prayer is this:

Dear Heavenly Father,

I sincerely pray for the victims in the Orlando shooting. God right now, they are feeling so much hurt and sadness, both the survivors and the family members and close ones of the victims. One of the hardest things we go through as humans is experiencing the loss of loved ones.

I pray for the survivors as they try to figure out how to cope with what they've experienced. I pray that they will be filled with comfort and love from all the people rallying around them to support them when they are needing it most.

God, please allow these families and survivors time to heal. I pray that we wouldn't allow social media and the news to dictate the different issues they see in this disaster. I pray that we wouldn't make it about whether there should be gun control or make it about the shooter himself. So often, we focus more on the person who committed the crimes instead of supporting the victims. We like to look for specific reasons why he committed this crime. There are honestly a number of reasons that could explain why he did it. The underlying main reasons he did it though? He is a broken person and a sinner. There's no need to focus on anything else other than the fact that he's a sinner. I pray that we don't spend these next few weeks trying to figure this guy out. Instead, I pray that we would focus on the people heavily impacted in this crime, and focus on figuring out ways to help them. The person guilty of this crime should not be given anymore kind of fame.

It is by you God that we are totally satisfied, so I pray that these people can find the love that you have for them and experience it during this difficult time. While you couldn't control the actions of the shooter, you can control the love that you show all of us.

Heal our streets and our land, Father. Fill the victims with your strength and your love that surpasses all understanding.

In your holy name,

Amen.

God bless.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
