As college students, we live in our own little world. Many of us are mostly disconnected to the "real world" and are completely absorbed with classes, campus life, and lots and lots of homework.

Adults may try to brush off the stress that you are feeling. They may think we have it easy, or that we complain too much about our lives. Here are some practical ways to cope with the stress in your life, because I know it's a very real thing you deal with daily.

1. Use a planner or calendar.

Getting organized can really help lift some of the overwhelming stress off your shoulders. Whether you are a fan of writing things down in a pretty Lilly Pulitzer planner or you prefer just utilizing your phone's calendar app, getting everything out of your head and being able to look at an overview is super helpful.

2. Make checklists and set goals.

Writing out a list of what I need to get accomplished for the day or for the week really helps me to know exactly what I have on my plate for the day, and how I can better manage my time to get everything done on time.

3. Listen to calming music.

I like lots of kinds of music, but when I need to relax I don't want to listen to just anything. Find a playlist that fits your mood, whether you are totally stressed out or need some piano music in the background, or you need to jam out for a few to throwback Taylor Swift.

4. Color in a coloring book.

There is just something so relaxing about coloring inside the lines. You may feel out of control in other aspects of your life, but you are in control of what this coloring sheet becomes.

5. Talk to someone you love and trust.

Sometimes, you may just need to vent. Talking to someone about your problems can be really beneficial in relieving stress, whether you need advice or just a good listener.

6. Go for a walk.

Getting a little fresh air can help bring you back down to earth, and help you change your mindset.

7. Take a bath.

Take some time out of your busy schedule, and take a hot bath. Break out some bubbles or bath bombs. Lather up with your favorite scented soap that you never use. Maybe even burn some candles while you're at it! Create a place that is relaxing for you, so that when you leave you feel fully ready to conquer your problems.

8. Power napping.

Taking quick, 20-minute power naps may just become your new favorite activity. Long naps are not good for eliminating stress. Napping for too long can actually make your body feel worse, therefore adding even more stress. Power naps can greatly increase your productivity.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
