You really don't know the value of a moment until it is gone

The Precious Power Of A Photograph

Isn't it crazy to think that there is a way to capture a specific moment in time?

With just one click of a button, you have easily crafted something that may hold a lot of significance in your life for years to come. A moment that could never occur again, no matter how many times it's tried to be recreated. Doesn't that amaze you?

A photograph is special; it holds onto memories (some you might wish that never happened, like those awkward teen years we try so hard to forget) or a wave of emotions. One single picture can bring you back to a time of rough patches between friends or pure bliss alongside loved ones.

And with just one glance of that picture of you and your ex-best friend, a passed relative, or one perfect moment you wish you could relive, comes reminiscence.

It can be bittersweet to look back on our lives and realize how much time has passed. The world moves very quickly around us, and we forget that sometimes. We live day after day with the people around us and sometimes we forget about the small moments that slip underneath us.

This is why one precious photograph can be powerful.

Recently I've come across some old pictures. Between the old friends and special memories with my family, I couldn't help but feel nostalgic about the life I once had with people I don't even speak with anymore. Everything happens for a reason; people and things may change, and that is something I learned to accept, although it is sentimental. We come across certain experiences and people in our lives to bring us to the place we are today.

Change happens, and it is okay. Maybe we outgrow people, get a new job, or move to a new city. But one thing that can last forever is a photograph of what makes you happy in that exact moment, and that can never be replaced.

Life moves very fast, and it is so important to hold onto the people we keep close to us. The people or things in your life may not be there forever, so it is so important to truly live with them while you have the chance. You don't know the value of a moment until you look back on it and realize that what is in the past is in the past, and can't be changed.

If you are fortunate enough to have someone special in your life, or to experience something amazing with the people close to you, photograph it. When you look back on it months or years later, you won't regret it. You won't regret how big your smile was in that picture or sneaking a picture of your loved one while they aren't looking because you know it was pure happiness.

Live while you can with the people you love and don't forget to photograph it, this life isn't promised to us.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
