Don't Stagnate–Here Are 5 Productive Things You Can Do Now That You're Done With Final Exams

There's nothing quite like the feeling you get as you walk out of your last exam and know you're free. Like, even if it went horribly, at least you're done with classes (for now).

However, it's easy to excuse laziness afterward, like not doing anything is your reward for having just done so much. Don't fall prey to laziness this year—there are so many simple yet effective things you can be doing with this newfound free time.

You don't have to launch a new clothing line or publish a novel, but keeping up a productive attitude will set you up for success in the coming semester(s)!

1. Do some winter cleaning.

Giphy

Maybe tidy up your dorm room—we all know how cluttered things get during exam season. Who knows, maybe you'll find a half-eaten croissant you forgot about as a reward for your effort.

2. Get outside your comfort zone through writing.

Giphy

Attempt a short story or a poem to get those creative juices flowing. If you're already a master at those, try your hand at a song. Keeping your brain active will help you avoid that spring semester senioritis (which we all know affects everyone in college, not just seniors).

3. Clean up your Spotify playlist.

Giphy

I'm not even mentioning the other music streaming service. Anyway, use your break to go through the playlists you play the most (or, if you don't have your own playlist, take this time to make one). How many songs are on the playlists that you're honestly starting to get tired of hearing? Probably several.

4. Start a dream journal.

Giphy

I started one in 2015 and it's become really fascinating. You only have to write down dreams that are actually interesting, and apparently keeping a dream journal can potentially help you learn to lucid dream? Also, writing down your dreams can help reduce your stress and feel more in-control, according to my experiences thus far. Who knew journaling could be so productive?

5. Revert back to some old relaxing hobbies.

Giphy

Mental health is important, and getting back to the basics can help you unwind after a difficult semester. This break, take some time for you. If you used to love playing video games, pick up your controller and get back in the game. If you used to love reading, pick up a book that'll be a light read. If you used to like crocheting, I'm open to receiving a sweater from you this holiday season.

You can have a fun break without spending the duration of it in bed like a lazy bum (although that is an equally tantalizing option, honestly). Use these next few weeks to rest productively! :)

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
