Finals week is full of dread, stress, and tears. While it is by far the most miserable part of being in college here are some positive things that keep college students motivated for the final push of the semester.

1. Only 24 hours of no sleep and then I can sleep in for a month.

Let's be real, as college students we never get the recommended eight hours of sleep. During finals week the three hours of sleep we usually are able to squeeze in turns into zero. Luckily, as long as you don't have to work the morning shift over break, you'll be able to catch up on all those missing zzz's over break.

2. It's okay that I haven't had time to do laundry in a month, I'll just bring it all home to mom.

Let's be real, during finals week laundry is at the bottom of our to-do list. Especially when you know mom will do your laundry for free if you bring it all home.

3. This is the last cup of Easy Mac I'll have to eat for a whole month.

Good by canned goods, crappy cafeteria food, mac n cheese, and Ramin. Hello, mom's home-cooked meals.

4. All the puppy kisses waiting for me.

Let's be real, the family member we miss the most when we head off to school is our beloved pets. Knowing that the only thing standing between you and cuddles with your furball is one more test is sometimes the only thing that keeps you going.

5. Showering in your own shower, and sleeping in your own bed.

Nothing is better than going home to your own bathroom and shower. Especially if you're living the dorm life with the nice school issued mattresses, and cleanly public bathrooms.

6. I can finally have a social life again.

if you're anything like me school consumes your life during finals week and before you know it it has been a whole month since you've gone out with friends. Then you hit an all-time low when you realize you've forgotten what you even like to do for fun...

7. I won't have to adult for a whole month.

Why were we all in a rush to grow up again?

8. Getting rid of the awful professor.

Not only will you completely shred them on the end of the semester survey's, rate my professor, and to your parents but you'll also never have to sit through one of their boring lectures again or take their GPA destroying tests.

9. Celebrating the holidays.

There's nothing like some Christmas cheer, warm winter trip, or some fun New Year's Eve plans to remind you that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

10. Oh wait... I have a J- term class.

Welcome to college there's never a break.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
