Not everyone immediately looks at the world with rainbow skies and hope in their hearts.
Some of us try to see the world as rationally as possible, but that does not make us negative, it simply makes us realistic. In fact, keeping a clear worldview can actually make you more positive. Addressing the bad in the world does not mean that your view is immediately devoid of good, it just puts into perspective the steps you have to take to achieve the common good, or even just a personal one.
The reality is: the world is not perfect. It hasn’t been since it was created. Everything is a work in progress, and with each step there seems to come more obstacles and that’s okay. Living in denial about the presence of problems do not make those problems go away, instead, they just fester and threaten the blessings already present.
I’ve been told that I am often too blunt and too pessimistic, but, in actuality, that just shows me the vast opportunities there are to make a difference. With everything going on from wars to fractitious political environments to divisive ideologies, one small act of kindness and even just a fierce dedication to doing what’s right in spite of the consequences can change someone’s life.
However, it is easy to get caught up in all of the bad. Bad things are just unavoidable and they come in many forms from unfortunate events to toxic individuals. What matters is how you deal with the situation and letting negativity consume your spirit is not the solution. Stay realistic, keep a clear head but always remain hopeful because the world is filled with so many inspiring people, places and opportunities.
So, even though I tend to drift towards the more negative perspective because I am painfully realistic, I still look at the world with a desire to be part of the change and a conviction that good can triumph over the most horrible parts that life can throw at us and the global community. Being realistic and being positive are not mutually exclusive.
There needs to be a balance in all things and sometimes a little bit of bad can inspire a whole lot of good. To all my unrelentingly rational individuals, never lose sight of your sensibility and level-headedness because there is a need for realism in the face of the irrational, but, do not allow the dismal state of affairs to worry you too much. Everything will be worked out one way or another. Besides, I probably don’t need to tell you that because while you spend time thinking of the bad, you also think of the possibilities for progress, and you know that the chances for a positive outcome are just as likely as the chances for a negative one.
