3 Reasons Why Politics And Entertainment Shouldn't Mix

We are seeing politics everywhere, but why is this awful for society?

Life was so simple when I was younger. I was apathetic with regards to politics and the world around me. Yet, I grew to like it, and now, I absolutely love politics. I major in political science. I read political articles. I watch the news constantly. I read what's going on around the world. I even tune in to the occasional political podcast.

I can't get away from it, which is not necessarily a good side effect of politics.

Even when I play computer games, somebody will have an avatar or username that broadcasts their political views. When I tune in to music, artists will grumble about our present framework. When I watch movies, it attempts to show individuals the negative results of bigotry. When I watch TV shows, the fundamental character passes on another political message. So, legislative issues are all over the place. I was unable to get away from governmental issues regardless of whether I wanted to or not. This is how the world is today, and it's not making life any easier.

1. Entertainment is supposed to ENTERTAIN.

The principal motivation behind why some people watch films and tune in to music results from how they can escape the brutal reality. People will always want to showcase their views, though, especially if they are in an influential position. I'm also not saying that media outlets should change completely - I do accept that some "SNL skits" are really clever. I will only watch them when I'm in the mood, though. That's why I believe that a show whose main premise isn't about politics should steer away from trying to be political. Simply put, entertainment doesn't need to inform its audience about politics because you can always get that information elsewhere. Entertainment's main purpose is to amuse people and distract them from the real world.

2: It's not healthy.

I began watching "Curious George" again and began tuning in to Icelandic music with any semblance by "Joipe." It's the only form of entertainment that will, in general, sway away from governmental issues. Or, at least, I think they do. I don't care what kind of political message a craftsman passes on, regardless of whether it is liberal or traditionalist. I actually condemn any political message showcased in the entertainment industry. It's simply unhealthy to be involved with politics all of the time, whether you are the artist or a part of the audience.

3. You can express your opinions in other ways.

I'm supportive of individuals communicating their sentiments, yet artists don't need to communicate them in their own work. I believe that is what social media is made for. Truly, some political messages should be yelled from the rooftops. Nonetheless, it shouldn't be forced down the audience's throats since certain individuals will never change their perspectives on a subject anyway. Yes, everything will eventually be perceived as a form of politics. However, that doesn't mean you should follow this trend. There has to be a separation of reality or else entertainment and life would simply be too overwhelming.

Disclosure:

Not everyone is like me, either. I experience politics every day, making the entertainment industry's decisions even worse for me. I want to relax and take a break from politics, and I use entertainment as an escape route. The combination of entertainment and politics is no big deal for some individuals, which is why I don't think entertainment will ever become absolutely politically-free, but I am hopeful that entertainment will eventually become less involved in politics.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
