No Relationship And No Political Party Is Perfect So Let's Have A Healthy Debate About It

Red or Blue, you gotta see the flaws

No Relationship And No Political Party Is Perfect So Let's Have A Healthy Debate About It

When you picture a relationship, chances are you think of one of two things.

Option A: The couple that is overly opposed with each other. They are the gross PDA couple who make out in public and freak people out with how close they are. This couple refuses to see each others' flaws because they are so in love with the idea of their partner being flawless that they cannot see they are actually are human.

Option B: This couple fights all the time. They are bitter and mean to each other. Everyone wonders why they are even together. They are well aware of each others' flaws and will call them out for it constantly. It is honestly kinda sad to watch.

Neither of these relationships are healthy. They test the mental stability of both parties and really aren't good. If you are a normal person, you do not want either of these. A relationship should be full of love and support, but if your partner is not doing something right, or if there is an issue, you should be able to call them out on it. You should be able to have a productive, mature conversation about it. Of course, there are other things a relationship needs, so these are just general rules of thumb.

So, my question is: why do the two major political parties follow these same, dumb relationship trends? Being overly patriotic and unable to see the flaws with our country (there are many, many flaws) is just as bad as nitpicking every little thing that is wrong and ignoring the great things we have (we have many great things).

I am not telling you how to vote or who to support. I am not trying to sway you to or from one party. What I am doing is asking you a simple question: Option A or B?

But what if I told you there was a C?

Option C: This couple talks out their problems. They love and support their partner, but they know they have flaws. This couple knows each other and is stable in who they are.

Or in politics - bipartisanship

No relationship is perfect, and no political party will be either. Although, at some point, we need to take a step back. Political discourse, if it is healthy and maintained, can help move our nation forward. Debate is healthy. Being proud of where you are from and loving this country is crucial. You can love America but see her flaws. Hating her will get you nowhere, but neither will the egocentric mindset that has become popular. We need to encourage debate and protect the many blessings we have.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
