Let me just start out by saying that I am not a political science major, nor do I engross myself in politics every second of every day. The most news I get is via my Skimm email in the morning and maybe some Fox News tweets throughout the day.
With that being said, I understand that I am in quite a predicament. This election will be the first time I can vote for a president, so obviously I need to make my voice heard. But, what’s a girl to do when her main two options are a little…scary? I promise I’ll get my facts straight before November, but here’s where I stand right now.
Option One: Donald Trump
First of all, he has crazy hair and he makes really weird facial expressions. You’re telling me I’m supposed to trust a guy with the fate of our entire country who manages "Celebrity Apprentice?" I don’t know how I feel about that one.
Option Two: Hillary Clinton
Look, I’m all for a woman president. Like the lady or not, it’s about time we women step up, and I admire Hillary Clinton for doing that. We’re capable of a man’s job. But, has anyone else ever thought that she kind of looks like a crazy aunt? “I’m the cool aunt!” Hillary screams at you while offering you a glass of wine at family Christmas dinner.
They both clearly have their flaws and maybe even a few strengths, so I guess the country isn’t totally lost. And thankfully, I have a few months to get a real opinion on their political issues, and not just their looks. I can only hope there is a real life Olivia Pope somewhere backstage helping them.
