When you think history class, no matter what age, you may let out a slight groan at the thought.
For myself, I get excited about history. I have found myself dosing off in my world history class like many others because let's be real, it can be pretty boring. I truly do not care what this one person did thousands of years ago that had little impact on society today.
What I care about is the little and big stuff that has had an impact on society today, no matter how long ago and no matter who did it. What I find history class most useful for though is all the future politicians out there, including our president.
Trump is not an exception just because he is Trump. Yes, I have gotten that argument before with no actual facts to back it up. Politicians should have some sort of background in history to hold a high, impactful position.
Yes, I am aware what I just said is a big statement but as they say, you learn from history so you don't make the same mistakes. My biggest example that I have to share is not to offend any Trump supporters, it is simply to show what is going on with a certain situation where history is useful.
As of now, North Korea is testing what nukes they have and have even gone as far as to threaten the U.S. so naturally, what does Trump do? Use fighting words back provoking the infamous Kim Jong Un. Even though the Cold War never erupted into a full-scale nuclear war, the concept is the same, who has the biggest weapons. Once again, we are starting to live in fear of a nuclear war due to history repeating itself on a smaller scale.
With the example, it shows as to why politicians should have a history background. If Trump had taken into consideration what happened during his time even, he would not have used fighting words back. He would not try and provoke somebody who has their mindset toward us. What should have happened was a compromise or anything relating to calming the situation to take any and all threats of nuclear warfare.
As recent news has it, North Korea has since been continuing to test nuclear weapons and even gone as far as to threaten Guam. Yes, history is important. Pay attention kids, you may be the next president.
