This country needs to take a breather. Right now a serious debate is going on about whether or not transgender people should be able to use the bathroom of the sex they associate with. I might sound naive, but I genuinely do not see what the big deal is.
There are way bigger issues going on in this country that we should worry about; issues much more serious than whether or not a transgender should be allowed into a specific bathroom. Because guess what? It could happen anyway.
What is this country going to do? Have police officers check to make sure the right gender is using the bathroom? News flash! You wouldn't be able to tell anyway, because they are transgender.
Maybe we should start talking about bigger issues in this country, like our failing education system, or perhaps the issues with entitlement and welfare. Nope -- this country is instead focusing on who is using which bathroom.
Do I think we should have gender-neutral bathrooms? No. Because that's not the point. The point is that it is a bathroom and the fact our country is so wrapped up in this overly-exhausted debate makes me sick.
People are people; at the end of the day all we can do is what makes us happy. If you're not comfortable with a transgender using your bathroom, realize you probably couldn't tell the difference anyway. Sorry to be blunt, but come on people -- there are bigger fish to fry.
