Political Correctness Or Formal Respect?

Mr. Trump, you are wrong. It is not just about being offended, it is about being respected.

Political Correctness Or Formal Respect?
Wikipedia

Dear Mr. Donald J. Trump,

I am writing this message as a way to properly refute your position on the idea of Political Correctness (PC). You have no PC sense which was most recently displayed by the way you spoke of fallen Army Captain Khan’s mother due to her being Muslim. I understand that you feel that PC is part of what is ruining this country but you are wrong. Being politically correct is not about not offending somebody, it is about respecting somebody and what they believe in.

Political correctness, in layman’s terms, is speaking in a way that avoids insulting any underprivileged group. Countless times, you have struck down being PC because you think it is a waste of time and that it dulls the message you are trying to get across. Furthermore, you feel as if you are correct because your supporters cheer at your rallies whenever you strike down the idea of political correctness. At your rallies, it seems as if the attendees enjoy your insults more than your actually ideas and policies for president. You have insulted Mexicans, Muslims, other candidates, women, mentally disabled, war veterans, and even the mentally capacity of your own supporters. Yet, they stay by your side. They continue to applaud you at your rallies. You were able to gain enough support with your unPC speeches that you won the Republican nomination for President of the United States.

Here, you are correct Mr. Trump. There is a good percentage of Americans who do not agree with being politically correct. They have faithfully supported you through the Republican Nomination process and continue to support you as you run against Hillary Clinton for the presidency. You have given these people and their beliefs not only a voice but also a leader. They wear their “Make America Great Again” hats religiously and defend your platform passionately. With your leadership, they hope to annihilate the idea of a political correctness.

Where you are wrong though, Mr. Trump, is on the importance of being PC. You think people are just being wimps and that talking down on certain groups is crucial to lift the American culture back to the top of the world. Your beliefs could not be any more misguided.

In your speech in which you announced that you were running for president, the unPC form struck a chord that awakened my disagreement with you and your political platform. As a person with Mexican immigrant parents, I was enraged with your claims about Mexicans. Not only did you refer to them as “people that have lots of problems” but you also claimed they were only good at being drug dealers, rapists, and criminals in this country. You tried to cover yourself by saying that “some are good people.” Really, Mr Trump?

Now, I understand that you are just trying to tell it how it is with your blunt views on certain groups but how does lying about that certain group make America great again? I am not infuriated at you because you were unPC but because you insulted my people. With what you said, you basically spit on the people I love the most. Both my parents are Mexican immigrants, and they not rapists nor drug dealers nor criminals. They came to this country with a will to find a better opportunity and they found exactly that. But contrary to what you believe, they did not find their success by being criminals or abusing government programs, they found it through hard work. They achieved something in this country by working less than humane jobs for extreme hours at minimal wages. Slowly, they worked themselves up the ladder to have what they have now. My father arrived here with a few dollars in his pocket and sack of clothes but after 20 years of hard work he has managed to raise a family and have his own 18 wheeler.

My father is not part of this “some are good people” group you claim there is in this country, he is part of the many are good people you fail to acknowledge. Like my father, I have aunts, uncles, distant family, and friends who came to this country and have made something out of nothing. These people are not criminals. They are good people with good hearts. With their hard work, they have contributed to the communities and economies in this country.

Mr. Trump, you stand behind your little podium and try to use Mexican immigrants as scapegoats for the problems in this country but you are wrong. You have done this to many other groups of people with no remorse. This is not about being offended, it is about being respected Mr. Trump. We may not have the wealth or popularity you have but we are humans too. Muslims, women, Mexicans, or any other group you have offended has the basic human and American right to be respected.

Sincerely,

A Disrespected Mexican

PS You are not going to win the White House with only 18% of Hispanics supporting you.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
