The golden rays filter
through the open window
and wake her from
her afternoon daze.
She searches the beams
for any lasting daydreams.
Her footsteps on the stairs
are shadowed by the sound of paws.
They walk out to
the park and play
in the pools of sun
that stream through the trees.
She waits for the blanket
of darkness to fall
across the sky and for the
pinpricks of starlight to join the moon.
Moonlight filters through
the windows and is joined
by the soft glow of
fairy lights and lamps.
Everyone praises sunlight,
she thinks as she glides
through the apartment,
but I prefer moonlight.
