When I grow up
I don't want to be a doctor.
Or a teacher.
Or a businesswoman.
Or an artist.
When I grow up,
I don't want to go to college
And learn to be an accountant.
Or learn to be a musician.
When I grow up I don't want to just
"Have a job"
When I grow up I want to be different.
I want to be strong.
I want to travel.
And smile at people who have never been smiled at.
I want to help them to their feet.
I want to be a voice for those who's voices stopped working long ago.
I want to help them find their voice.
I want to point to the hungry, the old, the young, the sick and disabled.
I want to point to people who are different, and scream
"Look at them! We can't just leave them!"
I want to shriek at the people who turn their backs.
I want to push them to do something.
I want to change the world.
But you can't learn that in college.
And you don't get paid for it.
