I believe poetry is a different form of language, and it is captivating. Poetry has always been my favorite form of writing because there are no limits. It can be so emotional and honest. Below, I have written a fictional free verse poem.

Coffee Shop Conversations

He asked me what type of bricks I use and I told him I prefer steel.

The only way to break through is to melt whats there

and darling, you can't melt something that's already in flames.

"You're a book with no words," he says.

No, I am a book who has been kept on the top shelf for so long,

the words have faded.

"You're a book I wish to read," he says.

No, I am a book that you will begin but once the climax appears, you will not finish.

My heart is a furnace always comforting those who are cold,

but one day the flame is going to die.

"Why do you burn for others," he asked.

Because I never want anyone to have to burn for me.

"I want to know who you are," he says.

"Tell me who you are," he says.

"Why won't you talk to me," he asked.

Because then you wouldn't want to sit by my fire.
