Sun After Storm

Tears drops fall from eyes as raindrops fall from the sky,

They fall,

Sometimes slowly,

Sometimes quickly.

When tears fall, the proper response is to catch them,

Unlike the rain that falls against the pavement,

Crashing,

Plummeting downward until they meet their demise alone, in the dark.

The first time I saw you cry was a time I would like to forget,

The look of hopelessness, the fear seen within your illuminated eyes was one that reflected all of the fears and emotions within you,

I saw the way the darkness scattered itself within you,

I saw the way that the world had gone and hurt you,

Had left you alone, scared, in need of someone to come and save you.

I remember the way that you looked away,

Refusing to let someone else begin to aid in taking away the pain,

But unlike those who were scared to persist,

I took it as a personal challenge to help you begin to truly exist.

Your tear-stained cheeks somehow fit perfectly into my hands,

My thumbs slowly wiping away the remaining tears that rested upon your eyelashes,

Your eyes seemed worrisome,

Fearful of change

Darkness does not fade in a single minute,

Like the negative thoughts that harbor our brains,

It must be gradually taken away by the light,

The sun takes away the blackness of the night's sky,

To which I will take all of the blackness around you and turn it into hues of gold and yellow,

The light of the world,

The light in which I intend to be for you.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
