Poetry On Odyssey: "The Things I Couldn't Say To You"

Music has the power to inspire so much energy in us. Music inspired this in me.

In my consumption of literary works of all kinds, I stumbled upon a series of poems fashioned like Frankenstein's Monster out the one-liners and famous phrases of other literary works. Out of this series of poetry, there were maybe only five lines that were authored by the poet themselves - dancing on obvious lines of authenticity and authorship. Now, this isn't a criticism of what they did, but an homage. Looking at the repetitive things in my own life, my music playlist hit me in the face like a ton of bricks with the word 'INSPIRATION' written on them. And thus, "The Things I Couldn't Say To You"was born. Enjoy. (All lines will be credited in order of appearance at the end of the piece.)

“If you wake up early enough in New York City,
the sky will be purple and nothing will hurt”

Listen, stop trying to be somebody else.

No one knows me like the piano
in my Mother's home.

Man I can understand how it might be
Kinda hard to love a girl like me
I don't blame you much for wanting to be free
I just wanted you to know

The sun don't shine when I'm alone
I lose my mind then I lose control

Extended works of fiction about imaginary success
The chorus girls in neon were his closest things to friends
But to a writer, the truth is no big deal

My guy pretty like a girl
And he got fight stories to tell
I see both sides like Chanel

Um, trying to think of the right thing to say

You gotta take it slowly
Take and eat my body like its holy

Don't think about it too much,
too much,
too much,
too much,
This is more than just a new lust for you

He'd say, "L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N.
You've got more than money and sense, my friend
You've got heart and you're going your own way"

I loved you better than your own kin did
From the very start

Tell me what is it with you
Everything disposable
you don't listen to
Deadroses its Trapsoul and Views now

I may not always love you
God only knows what I ’ d be without you

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
