Always keep fighting,
always stand tall.
Even when you struggle,
I won't let you fall.
Always keep trying,
to love the life you live.
Even when you're tired,
you've got some more time to give.
Always be yourself,
even if you're strange.
Let your freak flag fly,
and don't ever change.
Always keep your head up,
you are not alone.
You've got an Angel by your side,
and a family all your own.
Always keep smiling,
even when life is tough.
And never, ever forget that
you are enough.
When I was seven, my older sister spent her day channel surfing after finishing her homework. One night, we ended up watching this one show called Supernatural on the CW. All that I remember was one man getting run over by a car, and ending up alive all over again. It happened for the rest of the episode, which was called Mystery Spot.
After that fateful night, I didn't get the time to watch the show ever again. It was deemed too inappropriate for my age. I understood why.
Skip to 8 years afterwards, and I have successfully binged all of the 9 seasons that were up on every website, including Netflix.
Now, the main question is "what the hell is this show about?"
(SPOILERS!!!) Here's a good summary: Two brothers, Sam and Dean Winchester, criss-cross the country fighting all things supernatural. With an Angel, of course.
But most people don't understand when I say this show has helped me overcome some of my hardest struggles in life. It's not just a show, it's got it's own family, it's own 'following'. One family where they welcome you in loving arms, and are there for you whenever you need that help. It's a second family for me, and I wouldn't be where I am if it wasn't for that small push to the side.
If ya'll have seen Gilmore Girls, ya'll would be familiar with Dean Forester, Rory Gilmore's on and off boyfriend for the first two seasons. That man is named Jared Padalecki, and oh my God. He is sculpted by God himself.
Enough about that!!
Jared started this campaign called Always Keep Fighting, and it was in honor of those who have suffered through anxiety, and depression, and everything else. He chose to help people out, because he went through the same thing as a young adult, and still is going through it.
So when I say I look up to Jared, I mean it. I'm not just talking about how good of an actor he is on Supernatural. I'm talking about the fact that he made a positive impact on my life.
It’s a new day, and no matter what, you can choose to be happy.
Stop letting the crap drag you down. Give yourself today to remember who you really are.
Because you are amazing and beautiful and smart and creative and so, so many people are glad you are here.
