I wrote this poem after having watched Avengers: Infinity War. the movie broke my heart and I wanted to get the feels off my chest. I don't think it's my best work, by all means, but I think it's a good representation of the movie and how I felt about it. So, for those who have not seen the movie... Beware, spoilers ahead.

A Single Snap

Why is the world so cruel?

They took the lives of many,

And broke the hearts of the rest.

No one,

I mean NO ONE,

Came out unscathed.

A man left alone,

In a place he'd never seen before that day,

With a woman he just met.

To have his son,

In all but blood,

Die in his arms.

Dust and ash filled the empty space,

As the universe split in two.

Why?

What was there to possibly gain?

There is no power.

No future.

Nothing.

With that single snap...

Infinity became a lot smaller.
