Are you ever listening to a song and just caught off guard by a lyric, even in a song you've heard 100 times before? Is there a lyric that makes you stop and think, "wow, that was beautiful," or one that is so jam-packed with imagery it transports you to a distant nostalgic memory? I often find myself lost in beautiful lyrics; ones that give you chills with how poetic they are, and how beautifully they flow like water. There are even lyrics that make me say "damn" because they're simply powerful in their message. They are words I could never write myself; it is music, and it is amazing. Here are just a few songs that contain lyrics that have left their mark on my music library:

Poetic Justice Feat. Drake - Kendrick Lamar (Good Kid, m.A.A.D City): Every time I write these words they become a taboo / Making sure my punctuation curve, every letter is true / Living my life in the margin and that metaphor was proof

Life's for the Living - Passenger (All the Little Lights): Someday someone must be going my way home / Till then I'll make my bed from a disused car / With a mattress of leaves and a blanket of stars / And I'll stitch the words into my heart with a needle and thread

No Role Modelz - J. Cole (2014 Forest Hills Drive): I came fast like 9-1-1 in white neighborhoods

40 Day Dream - Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros (Up from Below): She got jumper cable lips / She got sunset on her breath now / I inhaled just a little bit / Now I got no fear of death

Above the Clouds of Pompeii - Bear's Den (Islands): As you end what she's begun / You'll lie patient by her side / With roses red come lilies white / I was too young to understand / The flowers slipping from your hands / I was too young to understand

Forbidden Knowledge - Raury (All We Need): Forbidden knowledge can destroy mankind / We can grow out of control like cancer under the skin of Mother Nature / Busy cities much alike to a tumor / Too many cells, the residents, the body's pollutor

Crazy = Genius - Panic! At the Disco (Death of a Bachelor):How the wine plays tricks on my tongue / But you don't seem to change / When you stuff all of your feelings with drugs / Other boys you may have dated / Serrated your heart with a slice / But the cut of your love never hurts / Baby, it's a sweet butter knife

Hold You Down - Childish Gambino (Camp): Subtle racism / It's hard to pin it cause you'd only understand / If you were me for just a minute / This one kid said somethin' that was really bad / He said I wasn't really black because I had a dad / I think that's kinda sad / Mostly cause a lot of black kids think they should agree with that.

Holding on to You - Twenty One Pilots (Regional at Best): Tie a noose around your mind / Loose enough to breathe fine and tie it / To a tree. Tell it, "You belong to me. / This ain't a noose, this is a leash. / And I have news for you: you must obey me."

Little Hell - City & Colour (Little Hell): My warship's a-lying off the coast of your delicate heart / And my aim is steady and true as it's been right from the start.

i - Kendrick Lamar (To Pimp a Butterfly):N-E-G-U-S definition: royalty; King royalty - wait listen / N-E-G-U-S description: Black emperor, King, ruler, now let me finish / The history books overlook the word and hide it / America tried to make it to a house divided / The homies don't recognize we been using it wrong.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
