This poem highlights the crux of what drives me to breathe every day: curiosity. Because there will always be questions that must be answered I will always have a purpose: to answer them. I think about random things. I take a bunch of ants feasting on a dot of spilled jam and I analyze it past normality. Why jam? Why an ant? What makes the ant know what it like to eat? How can a creature with such a small brain be able to discern jam from a speck of dirt? My questions go on forever and it is what makes me quirky. It is what makes me an outlier.
I wonder about happiness
I wonder about work
I wonder about all the times and ages and eras of this earth
I see so many faces, most colorful books
I just want to see and taste them for all what they're worth
I am curious.
I wonder about trees
I wonder about birth
I wonder truly what’s my purpose for this earth
I wonder and wonder and wonder about worry
Why people, pretty people, rush, rush and hurry
Quick! To figure out… what is living all about?
I think I am close and I think it is me
Who is in charge of revealing who we were all meant to be
It seems too obscure
But I know I am sure.
That humans were made to do something much much more.
There’s something about curiosity that I’m living for.
I wonder about religion
I wonder about food
I wonder about goldfish and their pet owner dudes.
I wonder about pain
I wonder about sorrow
How can I help reduce these feelings for the person of tomorrow?
My friends, they see me go
They used to wonder but they don’t much anymore
I do believe that I have achieved
Allowing my friends to question too who they were meant to be
Some people hide
Some people follow
But my legacy, regardless, will continue past tomorrow.
It does not stop…. And it never will
Because I know that I am here to increase goodwill
I wonder about rain
I wonder about tomorrow
I wonder if tree logs have always been hollow
I must make sure
That I am using my time
To reach each person from the heart of their crime
For what I see
Is what they will be
It is the truth hidden behind the strength of what they say to me
I wonder about about happiness
I wonder about work
I wonder which of these can heal… for what it’s worth
I wonder if I could ever
Be nothing
Because I have spent my life believing in something
So much bigger
So much grander
Evolution, magic, Jesus, a savior?
I used to fret
I used to worry
I used to cry all the time and be in a hurry
But now I have laughter and now I have joy.
A see a beginning where before I saw an end
My eyes have opened beyond the bend
I am discovering, exploring, searching.
About Why I’m here and why you're in a hurry.
Today is the day that we free our minds
We drop our phones, we leave them behind.
The future exists for all of us to see. Just take the time and stare off into the galaxy.
The ability to question is a gift. This poem was written to inspire people to question everything and reclaim their childlike wonder.
