To those who have been living under a rock, the time to vote is coming soon. There is controversy surrounding the two major candidates, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, with neither choice sitting well with the public. On one hand we are faced with a racist misogynist with no political experience and on the other hand, someone whose political record shows evidence of corruption, among other suspicions.
To the upcoming election, I have dedicated a poem to those who are undecided, feel unsatisfied or apathetic. It is not directed toward either candidate but when I hear one person say to another, "How can you vote for them," this is my response.
Wisdom is an illusion, absent the testing of fools
Who have scampered and skittered for ages
They cajole and shatter logic with irritable, irascible tools
In truth, what is the difference, between a fool and a sage?
Self-proclaimed wise men lie in every state
Those who are aggrandized seek selective council
Such council never finds fault or opportunity to berate
Many such fellows are fools and equally scoundrels
The aggrandized words of such wise fellows lead to a slew.
Of that which we see today, seek the advice of fools in lieu
For here is the crux, rare is the fool who has an ill pew
For after the fact, they proclaimed "Oh, but had they knew."
