Broken Trust

I had been hurt several times before

People have taken advantage of my trust down to the core

I was betrayed by those who said they "cared"

Trusting people left me paralyzed and scared.

My trust for you must be earned.

Though I tend to fall hard for men, my fragile heart never learned,

That time and time again I expect too much,

Thus why every bridge I've come across burns to the touch.

I was naive to the feeling of being in love.

Lord guide me from up above

Your broken trust led to a broken heart

But I knew for my sake we were better apart.

Lies after lies were told

My world felt as if it were on hold

I saw you as not like the others I had fallen for

I was wrong, you were everything I had hoped you not to be and more.

I thought you were special in a world that was far from perfect

Your false promises were enough to play with my head

The broken trust you caused between us, led me to swollen eyes with every tear I shed.

I am stronger without you.

There are no more days where I feel blue.

You lied,

You took advantage,

You broke my trust.

I am happy to say I've left my past with you in the dust.
