Why Podcasts Will Be Your Next Best Friend

With spring semester in full swing and constant freezing temperatures, we are all dreaming about spring break. Getting our beach bodies ready, starting to plan our trips, and avoiding all of our responsibilities are just some of the ways we can keep our thoughts in the clouds. Before we know it, spring break will be here.

No matter where you go for spring break, you need a playlist. A solid playlist for that road trip, some beachy songs to get you ready to be near the ocean, or even just some of your favorite songs to get you home. Wherever you go, every trip needs its anthem.

However, I know that after a couple hours of the same songs on repeat, I want to bang my head on the window. So I've taken it upon myself to find new sources of car entertainment.

That's where I experimented with my podcast app. I never took notice of it until the end of last fall. Little did I know that I would find my newest best friend.

Are you into crime docu-dramas?

Horror stories?

Comedies?

There are podcasts about these and so many more! I've discovered so many new stories that I've come to love thanks to this app.

It's like audiobooks, except they are free and not as long. Also, they aren't as much of a hassle to play, having to constantly change out disks when you complete it. Once you find a series you like, just set it to play in the order you want and go on with your life.

Are you super busy or do you travel a lot? I know that I listen to podcasts on my daily commute to school and work, even squeezing in some time between classes.

Are you bored with your drives or with walking around on campus? Plug in your headphones and get started with podcasts. It's entertainment provided conveniently to you.

Did you miss that big news event last night? Are you lacking in keeping up with current events? If so, don't fret it. There are podcasts that recap what is going on in the world and can be way more reliable than some news networks.

Are you a history buff, but don't have the luxury to sit down and go through a textbook? There are podcasts anywhere from the entire history of the British Monarch to conspiracies about the moon landing. Anything you want is practically on there.

It's so easy and affordable. All podcasts on the podcast app on iPhones are free, so no more paying to listen to your favorite stories. Also, they can suggest similar ones in nature just by the ones you listen and subscribe to.

Need a study break? Use this as an excuse to start getting your road trip playlist together. I can guarentee that podcasts will keep you and your car entertained round trip.

Go ahead and do yourself a favor, start checking out podcasts now! You'll thank me later!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
