Everywhere I look, there’s some kind of negativity, whether that be a comment on social media or a conversation I overhear. Somebody, somewhere is being mean to someone.
You don’t know what goes on behind closed doors. That person may be having financial issues, family problems, friend problems, they may be struggling with their mental health...you never know because a lot of people are very good at concealing their problems.
When you are mean to someone, you could be making things harder for them. They are probably already going through a hard time and mean words or actions could potentially make it worse.
Being kind is a simple solution.
Smile, say hello, compliment their hair or outfit, sit with them, text them. Being kind is so much more pleasing than being mean. It takes two seconds, but it’s two seconds that could make their day better.
When you make someone’s day better, you never really know how much they needed it, how much they needed to know someone cares about them.
What goes around also comes around.
Yep. That’s right. If you are kind to people and treat them how you want to be treated, they will treat you the same. They will be nice to you, smile at you, sit with you and befriend you because being kind to someone isn’t just a one-and-done type of deal, it’s a chain reaction, a chain reaction that you’ll love to be apart of.
You would want someone to reach out to you when you need it, right? So do the same for someone else. Ask if they’re okay or if they want to talk about it. If they don’t, sitting with them works wonders.
It could save their life. All it takes is one simple act of kindness.
Next time you see someone who looks like they may be having a hard time, take a few seconds out of your day to be kind to them. It’ll lift their mood and make you feel good. Everyone loves to feel good, right?
Be the ray of sunshine to somebody’s dark day.
I’m not saying you should go above and beyond. All I’m saying is that you should be kind to others. Be the rainbow in a world full of storms.
The world may be full of negativity and mean people nowadays, but that doesn’t mean you have to follow suit. Be the change and be an inspiration to others.
Who knows, you may even make a friend while doing so.
All it takes is one simple act to turn someone’s day around. You don’t know what their life is like outside of the time spent with them, so make it count. Be kind. Be the light in a world full of darkness. Be an example. Be someone to look up to. Be the person your parents would want you to be.
A simple “hello” is all you need to start a conversation and change someone’s day, so what are you waiting for? Get out there!
