Dear People of the world,
How much plastic do you use in your daily lives? Some may say all the time while others may say every single party in the universe. There may also be those who say none at all. The last answer is where we as a world have to join hands and go towards simply because of the fact that the plastic we use in killing our home.
By throwing away plastics there are many animals who suffer the aftermath of accidentally eating it, or even worse: getting stuck in it. Animals are smart living creatures that are alive, but they cannot always distinguish with what is good for them and what is bad for them simply due to the fact that just like us, they do not know everything.
Fishes eat plastic think that it is food because it smells like algae. Birds bring back plastic to feed their young with. These animals are suffering so much only because we as humans want something that is lightweight and cleans up fast.
The effects of plastic are long lasting to everyone and everything. Think about, plastic contains chemicals that make it the way it is. These chemicals harm you in such a way that your hormones start to essentially stop working normally. However, if we are giving the fishes the plastic we have thrown away, then we are essentially eating plastic too. This is simply due to the fact that the plastic we through away gets eaten by the marine life, and many humans eat that same marine life. But, not all of the plastic chemicals get burned out of the fish, so we end up with the chemicals too. Therefore, the plastic we throw away has a way of coming back and haunting us in a, particularly sneaky way.
It is interesting because there have been movements to stop the use of plastic by various companies and restaurants. In addition, there have even more alternatives for the plastic straws that are used all the time, especially. There have been paper straws specifically made to get the use as a plastic straw, but still, be healthier for the environment.
In the end, plastic is the silent killer of the world as we know it, and we need to quickly stop this killer. Instead of even getting a plastic water bottle that you are going to through away, invest a dollar more and get a reusable one that you can use a plethora of times and truly get the worth of your money. Plus it will probably end up being cheaper. If a multi-million company like McDonald's can get rid of its use of plastic straws then you can too. Now I know that straws i a small part of a bigger picture, but we have to start somewhere to get to another place.
Sincerely,
Oneeka Kohli
