The town of Bath is certainly one of the most popular day trip destinations from London, but if you haven't done your research it may seem like there is not much to do other than see the Roman Baths. After spending the day there, I cant tell you there's plenty to do, here are some of the best things to do while in Bath.
Take a Walking Tour
If you haven't done your research before visiting the city, be sure to take a walking tour. Bath is filled with quirky history sure to entertain you and to bring the city to life.
Visit a Pub
Bath Ales brews their own, you guessed it ales, and ciders too! Sit down for a cozy meal to dodge the rain and try one of their famous brews. I went to the Salamander and I would totally recommend it.
Shop Around for Cheese
The village of Cheddar or the village that invented Cheddar is not too far from Bath as they are in the same county. Lucky for you, this means that Bath has great and super fresh cheese. Make sure to pop in and take a look, and maybe a sample too.
Jane Austen Museum
Jane Austen's family home resides in Bath, however, the museum of her family home isn't actually there. The museum is still in Bath, but instead, it's in another home built to mimic the original. The Jane Austen museum is one of the many museums that reside in Bath that are worth checking out.
Sally Lunn's
If you have never had a bathbun you NEED to try one. I got a chocolate one from Sally Lunn's and it was amazing. Sally Lunn's is also one of the oldest houses in Bath, built in 1482 and lived in during 1680 by Sally Lunn. Enjoy some history while you enjoy your bath bun.
If you're looking to take a day trip from London, Bath should definitely be high up on your list. Although the trip is a bit lengthy, it will totally be worth your time. Happy traveling!
