10 Places I Would Like To Revisit

Some places we visit leave a mark on us before we can leave a mark on them.

10 Places I Would Like To Revisit

In my 21 years, I have had the chance to travel to quite a few places. In that time, I have found places that I never got to fully explore. My hope is that I will be able to one day travel back to these places because I want to be able to experience them in their entirety.

If there are places that you have visited that you didn't get to spend much time in, I encourage you to go back, especially if you fell in love with those places. The following is a list of places that I began to fall for, but didn't fall for entirely.

1. San Antonio

I visited San Antonio in 2013 for a National Youth Gathering. I was able to see bits and pieces of it, and it was rich with history. I would love to go back to revisit the Alamo. I loved all of the cultures and that people were speaking Spanish with each other.

I also got to take a River Boat Tour, seeing several beautiful sites along the river, including some vine-covered abandoned buildings. I don’t believe I spent enough time exploring while I was there.

2. Seattle

I visited Seattle when I was 4-years-old. There are only snippets of images that I remember from the trip, but I remember loving every minute of it. I visited the Space Needle and actually ate in its restaurant. I also got to see Mount St.

Helen from afar, but can also say that I started to climb Mount Rainier in shorts and sneakers although the snow reached up to my knees. I also was able to visit the Pacific Ocean from there, and saw seals lying all over the beach. I remember the green of the forest, and the light hum of the city as well. It’s all so nostalgic to me.

3. New Orleans

I volunteered at a National Youth Gathering while I visited here and was there for a week. I was able to see much of the city, but I always love immersing myself in the cultures of the city. I would love to go back and take a ghost tour. Ghosts and voodoo are such an iconic part of NOLA, and I feel like I did not get to enjoy the full experience.

I would also like to take a riverboat or history tour. I love finding out how a city runs. I also did not get to experience Bourbon Street, as I was 20-years-old at the time, so I want to experience the nightlife of NOLA. Plus, who could pass up some fresh beignets from Café Du Monde?

4. New York

What can I say? I instantly felt at home when I set foot in New York City. I stayed there for a week while I participated in an acting camp and had the opportunity to have a bit of independence while I was there. There was so much mixing of languages and culture and sites to see. I know that I would never get tired of the city since there would always be something to discover. I would love to explore all of Central Park, and I would love to spend time in all of the nooks and crannies of the city. It is such a beautiful place, and I feel that I would need to live there to fully experience everything.

5. Boston

I spent a day in Boston a couple of years ago, which surely was not enough time there. I would have loved to check out all of the historical places in the city, plus I only saw one little speck of it. The cobblestone streets were a nice touch as well. I did have the chance to explore some of the neighborhoods and stores outside of the Central Business District, but I would love to spend more time there.

6. Clearwater Beach

I took an adventurous road trip to Florida during my freshman year Spring Break. I joined two of my friends for the trip, and we actually took in quite a bit while there. We saw the Florida Aquarium where I was able to touch stingrays and manta rays. I also got to touch tiger sharks and horseshoe crabs. I loved that it was very hands-on, and I was told the zoo in the area was the same! I would like to go back to explore the other tourist destinations, but even just to lay on the white sands of the beach. We had some beautiful weather while we were down there, and I would really love to relax more while I am there.

7. Nashville

I got to visit Nashville for a day when I was younger. I was able to hear some of the music that people play in downtown bars, but certainly not enough. I want to be able to go back and just hang out in the center of all the music. I would love to bump into a country star in a downtown store as well. I would like to spend time taking it all in as well.

8. Atlanta

I’ve only ever driven through Atlanta, but just doing that, I knew I wanted to return. First off, my favorite form of caffeine comes in a Coca-Cola can, and I would love to visit the factory. There are also so many historical sites I would like to see as well. There’s a lot of music to listen out for, and a park system that I have heard good things about. I would like to dedicate time to actually explore.

9. Disneyland

What can I say? It’s iconic. It is full of dreams, and everything about it seems magical. It is also the original Disney park, so something about it screams “a simpler time.”

I remember getting to meet so many of my favorite Disney characters, and so I would love to go back and experience it all again. I know that it has grown since I was there when I was 7-years-old, so I want to be able to see what has changed.

10. Washington, D.C.

I visited the U.S. Capitol during an eighth-grade trip. I saw so many of the historical sites of the city, but I did not get to see it all. I would love to go back and see what I didn’t. Plus, there’s so much history surrounding the city as well. I would like to take time to just walk around to see what I can find by just exploring. This was the original place that I began to fall in love with cities. Something within this city showed me how much I love the life that never seems to die in a city.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
