Each year, I fly down to Tampa, Florida to shoot Metrocon! This year, I decided to bring some analog cameras with me to shoot downtown, and while my lovely Leica wasn't feeling up to it, my Nikon F100 did an awesome job.

I loved the leading lines and symmetry in this shot. I also really loved the smoothness and how the colors were rendered - particularly with the leftmost pillar. It's a very pleasing shot. Below are two more shots that I liked, mainly for their composition and linework.

Another great thing about film is the color rendition, and I loved the pastels rendered on this bike against the sidewalk brick. The crop is very tight which I also like as it fills the frame out nicely without being cut off.

Speaking of color, I loved the pop that this shot had against the cooler tones of the water in the background.

This candid I really liked because of the motion blur on the hand, and the pure emotion on Cassidy's face as she made a wish by tossing a penny into the pond. The rule of thirds also comes in to play here which gives the frame more complexity.

I do some cosplay shoots while I'm down in Tampa, and here is a picture of Pearl having her cosplay adjusted.

Here is a really colorful shot of the rainbow fountains that I captured downtown one night. Unfortunately, it's rarely isolated from tourists, but I managed to grab this shot with only one person in it.

The shallow depth of field here is nice, and I shot it with the intent to isolate the flowers at the top of the frame.

I did shoot a few frames of film while backstage at the raves, and I was happy with this shot given how difficult the conditions are to be shooting film there.

Lastly, I loved this shot of the rainbow lights illuminating the palms trees one night in downtown Tampa. This is definitely one of my favorite shots of the trip, and I'm glad I had Ektar loaded as that gave this shot a really nice saturation.

I would highly recommend checking out Tampa if you ever get the chance! The downtown area is really hip and infused with culture. The photo-ops don't disappoint either if you're prepared!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
