Hockey fans are passionate people. We live for the sport. Every hockey fan in the NHL, is completely committed to supporting their favorite players and teams. Yet, there is one fanbase that tops them all.
The fans of the Philadelphia Flyers are the most passionate and supportive fans in the entire hockey universe.
Anyone that has been to a Flyers home game in Philadelphia understands the atmosphere of the Wells Fargo Center. The feeling of the arena is electrifying, as well as a sense of community. During warm-ups, almost 20,000 people decked out in orange and black take their seats to support Giroux, Ghost, Wayne-Train, and all of the Philadelphia Flyers. Every time the puck reaches the back of the net and that goal horn sounds, the fans erupt into a boisterous cheer. It's a sense of community. Philly loves hockey and those who play it...as long as they're in a Flyers uniform.
Philly fans passionately hate a handful of franchises in the NHL. (We're looking at you Pittsburgh.) We support our boys no matter what, even though sometimes that support can be (mistaken for) harassment against other teams. (We do it on purpose against Pittsburgh.) Part of the charm of Philly fans is our various "cheers" for the members of the other teams, as well as the refs. We'll let the referees know when they aren't doing the greatest job and WE WILL ALWAYS let Sidney Crosby know how we feel about his hockey skills.
We also love the Philadelphia Flyers Organization because of how much they give back to the community. This community outreach includes individual foundations of the players and the Flyers Wives Carnival. The Flyers Wives Carnival is an entire day of fan and player interaction in carnival games, autograph sessions, and photo opportunities. The Flyers organization is one of the only organizations that have this type of event. The players and members of the organization genuinely care about the community around them.
We support them on the ice and they support us off of the ice. The boys in orange and black are genuine, caring people and that's why Flyers fans are so passionate. The Philadelphia Flyers, their fans, and Philadelphia as a whole, are family.
