This year has been a roller coaster for the Philadelphia Eagles leading up to their Super Bowl 52 win — whether it be the injury of our new, promising quarterback, injuries plaguing the team, or the doubt of the media. However, the Birds pulled through and brought home the coveted Lombardi trophy. But that’s not the only thing the Eagles have given us fans.

Here are five things the Eagles gave fans this season besides a Super Bowl win:

1. Pride

We are now recognized as WORLD champions. It has been a long time coming. Not only did we win the super bowl but we beat the EMPIRE they call the Patriots. This win came after the odds were literally stacked against us, after we were labeled the underdogs, after we were told we were just getting lucky. They wanted a win, we wanted a win, and look at what they gave us.

2. A sense of togetherness

This team was filled with so much love for the game, for each other, for the fans that it truly bubbled out into the streets. This team brought generations together, fans of all colors from across the country.

3. Joy

This team of funny, charitable, hardworking men has injected so much happiness into their fans across the country.

4. Hope

Eagles fans have hoped to get a ring for a long while. Now, we hope for this to be the start of OUR empire because of the ambition this team has.

5. A sense of perseverance

This team didn’t stop when their QB went down with a new injury. This team didn’t stop when Alshon Jeffery tore a rotator cuff. They continued to play and play hard. Jason Kelce said it best, we’re underdogs and an underdog is a hungry dog.

So, thank you Eagles, thank you for these valuable gifts, thank you for bringing the Lombardi trophy to us, thank you for instilling pride, togetherness, joy, hope and perseverance in us fans. Thanks for satisfying our hunger for now. Go birds.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
