Every fall, a college student's thoughts turn to the upcoming winter break. Unlike any other time in our life, we have almost the entire month of December to ourselves to go home and work, spend time with family and catch up on sleep. We just have to conquer finals week and then we're home free. But believe it or not, just as soon as we get finished with finals, we are all thinking the same things...

1. I don't wanna pack but I NEED to go home.

Once finals are over, we're all so ready to get out of town and go back to some home cooked meals and old friends. But first we have to pack a month's worth of stuff into our cars, and thats easier for some of us than others!

2. Ugh this is gonna be such a long drive home.

Obviously, it depends on where your school is in proximity to home, but for me, it always seems like the drive back to school before a break takes approximately four days when it should take four hours. Is it the anticipation or the lack of sleep? The world may never know!

3. I have to make plans with EVERYONE ASAP!!

I love my friends at school, but after a few months away, it is imperative that I see all of my friends from home as soon as I get back. Even if I just go to Starbucks with every single person, I'm always so excited to make plans with friends I haven't seen in a while.

4. Yay, I get to go back to work and see my friends!

You've just spent a few months at school either not working at all or working at a different place. So coming home to work, make some money and see your coworkers is always a fun time!

5. Time to go visit family.

As it gets closer to December 25th the fateful time always comes when you've gotta go sit in a room with extended family and explain to them why you're single, how finals went and how all 345730 of your friends are doing. But hey, at least yummy food is usually involved!

6. Okay I kinda miss my roommates

At some point during our breaks, we all realize that we miss all the people we live with. Some roommates are closer than others, but me and mine spend way to much time together to be separate for an entire month!!

7. Ugh it sucks that I have to report to my parents all the time now.

I'm telling ya, once you've been away for months and have a personal schedule, its hard to come home to chores, curfew and being told what to do all over again. College is a weird place between still living under your parents' roof and moving out, so it's always a sticky situation coming home.

8. Somehow I’m sleeping less on break than I did during classes?

We all know college kiddos don't get the appropriate amount of sleep, but once we come home, we're still on a crazy sleep schedule from finals, and we have to go to work, visit friends, visit family, do chores, etc. So I always find that I'm more tired on short breaks than I am during school!

9. If I have to go to one more doctor's appointment, I may scream.

Everyone schedules appointments during winter break because this is the longest time that they'll be home from school. But in the span of one month, I'll have been in more doctors offices than the rest of the year combined.

10. Okay, New Year's Eve, where you at?

It's getting to the point where we need a night out like we do back at school. This is a college student's excuse to go have a fun night out with friends and wear a cute outfit at the same time. So we are all waiting patiently for December 30th!

11. Countdown to classes.

Now that New Year's is over, we know there is about a week until we go back to school and we all begin to wait in anticipation. We start to pack, we start to get our class schedules in order and text all our friends to see when they're heading back!

12. Finally!! I get to drive back to school!!

The day has finally come that we get to see all our friends, get back to our apartments and get back to the college lifestyle. Its a super exciting day and I've never been more excited to make that long drive!!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
