Just 6 Reasons Pets Are Awesome

Nothing compares to having a pet. Whether it be a cat or a dog, a guinea pig or a bird, pets bring joy and life to their humans. If you have never had a pet, maybe this article will help you see how truly awesome pets are and convince you to get one too.

1. Pets give you something to care for.

Maybe some people see this as a down side. Maybe many people feel too busy with no time to care for another living creature. Yes, you have to feed them and clean up after them, but having something to care for can actually be very fulfilling. I think having something to care for gives your life meaning. It is a joy to love and care for another creature.

2. Caring for a pet is rewarding.

Seeing your pet grow and learn new things can be very rewarding. It is awesome seeing them grow from little babies to adults, teaching them tricks, and observing their behaviors. Sometimes there are challenges when training an animal and raising them, but it is wonderful seeing their personality change, and they will be sure to thank you for all your loving care with lots of love and kisses.

3. Pets are adorable!

We all need some cuteness in our lives and can never have too much, and let’s face it many of us get pets because they are just too cute! Their cuteness will definitely brighten your day.

4. Pets are hilarious.

Pets are awesome because they are just so dang hilarious sometimes! I promise you they will do plenty of ridiculous things that will make you laugh. My cat makes me laugh when she chases the laser pointer everywhere. She will even crouch behind the corners of the walls (sneakily) and then pounce on the laser. It is fun to watch. My pugs would always make me laugh too, they snore when they are awake! My pug Molly used to always plop on the road in the middle of our walk. With her paws in the air, she would snort dramatically. That was her way of asking us to carry her 25 lb. body the rest of the way home because she was too tired. She was quite the drama queen! Everyone needs some laughter in their lives and pets will definitely give you some.

5. Pets are always there for you.

Pets will be more loyal and loving than many people you meet. They are always there to be a listening ear or to cuddle and snuggle when you are down. Many times, just petting my cat has helped me remain calm when I was anxious. There is something so comforting about pets.

6. Pets are therapeutic.

There is a reason many animals are used for therapy. The joy and comfort they bring is healing and therapeutic. Many people with both physical and mental health issues have therapy pets to help them. Even pets who aren’t trained to be therapy animals are still often very comforting. Even just petting their soft fur is therapeutic.

These are some of the reasons I found for why pets are so awesome and everyone should have one, and of course, there are probably much more. Throughout my life, I have had multiple cats, two pugs, many guinea pigs, and even a frog that we rescued. My life has been full and enjoyable because of all my animal friends. They have brought me countless hours of cuddles, fun, and laughter, but most importantly they gave me lots of love when I needed it the most. They are truly best friends and that is nothing to be ashamed of.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
