If you're thinking this article is going to be related somehow to the ultimate teenage rom-com "To All the Boys I've Loved Before," you're wrong. It's not all about that. But it is a little bit.
See, after the movie came out, I've seen so many posts, articles, and tweets gushing over Peter Kavinsky (with which I all agree, don't get me wrong), but I couldn't help but think about all the girls feeling incomplete because they didn't have that kind of relationship. I wish I could make all of you believe that there is nothing, nothing, that is better for you than what you have right now.
Even if what you might be going through right now seems like the worst thing that could ever be, it's only there to turn you into gold.
Yup, that's right.
Instead of wishing away the time you have now in hopes of an unseen love, focus on the love you already have.
And if you think there is nothing, no one in the world that is in love with you, redefine love.
Love is a child smiling at you,
Love is an animal feeling comfort in your touch,
Love is the sweet smell of a flower,
Love is your favorite drink on a hot summer day,
Love is an old favorite playing on the radio,
Love is putting in hard work for your own good,
Love is finding what makes you happy and doing it,
Love is who you are.
Stop trying to put something unconditional and free into a box; it skews everything, especially our perceptions and expectations of it. Those misconceptions, in turn, make us blind towards the goodness and inherent contentment we have within us. And by thinking that a situation different from the one you're in now would be better is just giving yourself discontentment. Don't do that to yourself.
Remember that your love is always enough
Because you are enough for you.
