Pet Peeves that Ruin Relationships
The Spirit Science

We all have those little things that irk us. They're pet peeves that we just can't get rid of, no matter what. Sometimes they are absolutely ridiculous, such as ticking clocks or drivers who pass on the right, while other times your pet peeves are completely justified and actually can tell you when you need to get out of a relationship.

1. People who put empty cartons back in the fridge.

These people are the scum of the Earth and should never be trusted. Like ever. There is no point to put an empty carton or package in the fridge. Does the plastic need to be refrigerated? No! It needs to be shoved into a trash can and sent to the dump! I mean...placed into recycling because nature.

How this applies to your relationship:

Honestly, these people are lazy as crap and they can't even give the effort to throw something away. Instead, they leave you with all the work and sit back and relax. If that's any indication of the health of your relationship, get out.

2. People who talk during movies.

Have you ever been enjoying your favorite movie and then some chocolate-covered flubber nugget has the audacity to start commenting on every little thing and then starts talking about something completely unrelated to the movie? Yeah, don't be that nugget. I will personally come into your house and steal your television.

How this applies to your relationship:

If you can't sit down for two hours and just enjoy something with your significant other, then how can you enjoy anything in your relationship. If you are both movie talkers and absolutely love your comments and talking... great, I'm happy for you. I hope you're having fun ruining movies for all your close friends, families, and relatives when you come to visit. But if not, you may be in trouble.

3. They can't make small decisions.

One of the worst things is not being able to make up your mind especially over something as simple as where you want to go to eat or what kind of cake do you want. Saying "I don't care, you choose" does not get you out of this one. It's the same exact thing.

How this applies to your relationship:

If you can't make small decisions in your life how the heck are you going to be able to face big decisions like should we get this apartment, should we get married, and the most important one, should we get a dog. Your partner is going to start feeling like you don't care about them if you appear apathetic all the time! The answer is yes, always yes, to that last question, by the way.

4. Constantly changing the radio station.

You know, I'm not very picky about what music I listen to. I'm a very all around guy, but it infuriates me when people keep changing the station because their favorite song isn't on or they just aren't feeling it or there is a boring commercial on. Just relax! It's just music. Something good will come on eventually.

How this applies to your relationship:

With relationships, it's not gonna be gumdrop buttons and daisies all the time. Relationships take work. You're gonna find yourself at times not feeling it, or wanting the old spark back, or feeling things getting tedious and monotonous. Are you gonna change the station? No, you're gonna get off your butt and work for your significant other or you don't deserve to be with them.

5. Not replacing the toilet paper.

The worst thing a person in life can experience is that awful moment when you realize that you sat down on that porcelain throne without an escape plan. You know what I'm talking about--no toilet paper. Everyone says always look before you sit down. No! How about if you use it all up you replace it? But no! When you need to depend on someone the most, when you are the most vulnerable, they just let you down.

How this applies to your relationship:

First off, if they don't replace the toilet paper that is the most cardinal of all sins. There should always be two things in your house, toilet paper and ice cream. Having no toilet paper creates too many awkward situations and ends up giving one significant other with all the power aka the one outside the bathroom with the toilet paper. And one person having all the power in the relationship at any time is not healthy at all.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
