A Letter To My Mom
Kelsie Williams

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to realize how the time spent with my family has decreased. Life is becoming so chaotic between college and adulting that I have forgotten about the one person who pushed me to become the strong woman I continue to grow into, my mother. So mom, this letter is just for you.

Dear Mom,

First, I want to say thank you. Thank you for always being there for me and being my backbone. I do not know where I would be without you to push me forward. Thank you for building me into the woman that I am today and will continue to grow as. Thank you for always picking me up after all the heartbreaks and pain I have been through. You always give me advice when I need it. Even if you do not know what to say, you will go buy me my favorite ice cream and rent my favorite movie and let me cuddle with you until everything is better. Thank you for being the best mother I could ask for. I know I do not thank you enough, but I appreciate everything you do.

Also, I want to say I love you. I never say it enough, and I do not always show it. You have always shown me love. You taught me what love to accept from guys. I am stubborn and hardheaded when it comes to love, but you are very loved. You are my everything, mom. I will show you more love, and I will spend my life trying to give you the world because that is what you deserve. You were the first person to show me love. You will be the one person I will always love until I die. You will always be my rock, and I could never love anyone like I love you momma.

Lastly, I want to say I am sorry. I am sorry that I let you down and make mistakes. I am sorry that I let guys break the heart you took nine months to develop. I am sorry that I make mistakes that I know I should not have. I know you do not want me to be perfect; I know you just want me to the be the best person I can be. Throughout my entire life, you have made me a better person. I know I make you mad, and I am sorry. I am trying to be the person that you see that I can become. I do not like to disappoint you, but please just know that I am sorry, and I am trying to be better.

After everything we have been through, you will always be the one person that I can count on. You are my backbone, my support line, and my ride or die. I love you to Pluto and back, mom.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
