April Fools is a great time for good pranks to laugh about with one another. Just make sure the pranks don't go too far. However, instead of lecturing on about the dangers of horrible April Fools jokes, I'd like to give a few examples of great jokes pulled off.
First, there was the airplane with a glass floor prank. Some genius decided to photoshop the interior of a commercial airplane and then make the bottom transparent and blurred to give the illusion of the floor being see-through. The prank was so good it got my entire high school running around, talking about the event. However, soon after it was revealed the picture was fake and made us all look like complete idiots for it.
One of the greatest April Fools jokes ever also took place two years ago when Google CEO Larry Page announced that he was decorating the entire map of the globe on Google Maps with all original 151 Pokemon. It was possible to find this Pokemon on the map amongst others and Larry Page promised that if you were able to find everyone, Page promised that Google would dub you as a Pokemon Master. The plot twist was that the final Pokemon, Mew (one of my own personal favorites) was the only Pokemon to be randomly assigned. On every google maps app, Mew was randomly selected and its location changed variously from anywhere in the middle of the ocean to the top of Machu Picchu. The biggest joke was that at the end, Page and Google went silent and didn't give any Pokemon Master medals like they promised.
According to Hoaxes, back in 1947, it was also rumored that Margaret Thatcher had a secret relationship with Mikhail Gorbachev. On April 1st, the rumor spread like wildfire and the nation erupted in laughter as the most conservative representative in the English government was rumored to have the hots for one of the greatest Communist prime ministers in history.
