Be the Person Who Embraces Everyone's Sparkle

You're soulmate or other half may be within your arms' radius; you may just not be taking the time to stop and find that sparkle in those you don't know.

Be the Person Who Embraces Everyone's Sparkle

As we make our way into the season of holiday cheers, we are reminded to count our blessings and be thankful for all that we have. We find ourselves focusing on the good around us, and for a short amount of time, the negatives that once seemed so large are now so minuscule compared to all the positives.

This being said, we can only wish to have that holiday cheer surround us all year round, but unfortunately reality is still a thing. Within all the craziness of our lives, it is difficult to not focus in on the negative influences surrounding us. Whether this be people who may rub you the wrong way, or just those "bad vibes" we sometimes catch from a simple surface level conversation with someone.

For many of us, we don't have the time to sit down and get to know everyone we meet. As much as we would like to know more about the people around us, it just isn't possible all the time.

Now just because time is limited does not mean that anyone should be judged off their flaws. Each and every one of us have a sparkle within us that many do not take the time to embrace because we often times focus more on the negatives of others.

Being guilty of this doesn't make you a bad person; it makes you human. We are guilty of over thinking first impressions, judging people based off absolutely nothing and letting rumors impact our individual opinions of others.

Many of us forget how contagious positivity can be. We are always told to find the positives in every situation, so why not do the same for every person? For all you know, you could have an amazing connection with someone if you just look past the negatives and focus in on finding something positive about the person.

It can be so easy to let what others say impact your own opinion but as you catch yourself judging an individual off little things, think about the way you want to be viewed.

We have all made mistakes or given someone the wrong first impression, yet we still hope to be given a chance by everyone we meet, because we know those things do not determine who we actually are.

Everyone has something amazing to offer, and whatever that be, everyone deserves the chance to be known, not for the rumors or their past, but for that little sparkle. For all you know it may be exactly what you have been looking for in a person.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
