The holidays can be a great time to laugh, cheer, and celebrate with friends and family. Between church services, gift giving, and spending time with loved ones, it can be easy to get into the holiday cheer.
However, some people have a harder time with the holidays. Maybe you aren't able to come home this Christmas, or maybe your family has lost a loved one and the holidays won't be the same.
No matter what your situation is, if you're having a hard time this holiday season, know that there is nothing wrong with you. It is perfectly normal to feel down from time to time, but I also want to encourage you that you can find peace and comfort and that you don't have to be down.
Isaiah 26:3 says, "You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you."
Peace is a word that is passed around a ton at Christmas: Christmas cards, church services, songs, decorations, etc. It's a word that we all search for the meaning, but it can be hard to come by, especially on big holidays like Christmas.
Remember, the first Christmas didn't have the most peaceful circumstances either. No room in the inn, traveling on a donkey while pregnant, and unfamiliar places with scratchy straw and hay. But God gave them peace the same way that he longs to give us peace.
If you're struggling this holiday season, I encourage you to talk to God about finding peace. It isn't circumstantial, but a state of the heart. God longs to help you, so I encourage you to go into this holiday season trusting Him to get you through.
