Many people go through depression... It's not something that people wish they had. It just happens. Most don't understand that you can't help how you feel or what you're going through.
You can't help that you have bad days more than good days.
People don't get that this just happens to you. You have bad days and you get into this mood where you don't want to talk to anyone, not even the people who really care about you. You have days where you don't want to even look at your phone because you don't even want to look at social media or to look at texts because you just don't want to deal with anyone. A lot of people don't get this because they don't have to deal with it themselves.
For the people who don't understand this, you'll have to learn. You need to learn that they will have bad days and mood swings... That they won't want to answer you or they might just want to sleep the day away. They'll have days where they just want to cry and never know the reason for their sadness.
It's hard to accept someone who has mental health diseases. And yes, I'm calling it a disease because it is, there is something wrong in your body and sometimes you even need medication to help it, therefore, I see it as a disease. But accepting someone who has this issue is hard. You never know if you're the reason, if you can help, or if you should just leave them alone.
I'm telling you that if you are with someone with a mental health issue, just be there for them.
Help them in any way you can. They may not ask for your help or they even might tell you that they don't need or want your help but knowing someone has your back even through your worst days is a great feeling. It gives you hope of finding someone who finally understands and accepts you for who you are.
Mental health is no joke and is one of the hardest things to go through by themselves and in relationships. It puts a lot of stress on them and their significant other, but if you found someone who helps you through your hard times and accepts you knowing that you will have hard times throughout your life, hold them close and don't let go because it's not every day that you find someone who can help you through even your darkest of days.
