In my Philosophy class, my professor always refers to my ideas and comments as "Molly naivety." That is, he calls me out on the fact that I see the world in a very optimistic way that some may call naive. However, I don't call myself naive.
I call myself a free spirit.
There's nothing wrong with people who frolic through life seeing the best in all situations and people. In fact, I would argue that it makes life a lot more fun. We're dreamers.
For all you pessimists, I will educate you on all the perks of being a free spirit. For starters, everyone loves a free spirit. We are loved by the masses because our energy and idealism are fun and refreshing. Being a free spirit means that people like having you around, and that is always a nice feeling. Not only that, but the world is a lot more beautiful of a place through the eyes of a free spirit. When you focus your energy on the positives rather than the negatives, getting through the day is not a chore, but a joy!
Every day is an adventure when you stop getting caught up on the random things that bug you and instead see all the beauty that is present in moments. Don't judge people walking by, think of how incredible it is that that stranger has a life of their own! How cool is that?? Free spirits always have the most fun and don't care what people think, and living life that way makes everything a lot more tolerable.
It isn't the same as ignorance being bliss nor naivety, because we aren't dumb, we are just optimistic. So if anyone ever calls you naive, turn to them and say that you're a free spirit, because there's nothing better than that.
