The solution to boredom for most people is Netflix. Whether it be a classic comedy or a horrible horror movie, Netflix is the perfect pass time.
Like most, I too defer to Netflix for boredom, but I have a fatal show-streaming flaw... I can never finish a series. If you feel like you struggle with this same issue, here are a list of titles that even I have managed to fully watch and not get ridiculously bored.
1. "Sons of Anarchy"
This gritty seven season series follows the life of Jackson Teller (Charlie Hunnam) and his life as part of a motorcycle club called "The Sons of Anarchy." From tragic deaths to the kidnapping of an infant, this saga tears at your heart strings while making you feel bad ass for being able to keep up. Although seven seasons seems like a lot, you'll be clicking "next episode" until you forget it's 4 in the morning. You don't want to miss the last episode either, bring on the tissues. Did I mention how beautiful the main character is?
2. "Shameless"
Many people judge this show because "everyone" watches it. Well, there's a reason for that: it's amazing. The story centers around a house of six siblings whose father is an alcoholic. It follows the story lines of the growth of the kids and all the shenanigans they get into on the south side of Chicago. With hilarious twists and turns, this show will definitely make you appreciate how hard life can be for some people. Be prepared to cover your screen if watching in class because some scenes can be very inappropriate but very real.
3. "Parks and Recreation"
If you heard the rumors, they're probably true. This show is to die for. I'm not a huge comedy fan but this series really had me laughing. It follows coworkers in a Parks and Recreation Department in a small town with the ever so spunky Amy Poehler in the lead. These crazy cats get into a lot of local government chaos in not your average American small town. It gets a little slow in the last seasons when two main characters leave, but it is definitely worth the watch.
4. "Girl Boss"
Based on the book "#GirlBoss" by Sophia Amoruso, the creator of the clothes website and brand Nasty Gal, this show is really a kicker. Although it says before every episode it is a "loose retelling of true events," it basically follows the story of how Sophia began selling vintage clothing that turned into Nasty Gal. Her character played by Britt Robertson is super spunky with the cutest 70's vintage style. Only one season, but worth every episode.
5. "The Office"
Do I even need to tell you why? With short 20-30 minute episodes, I flew through all nine seasons in under two weeks. Michael Scott is awkwardly hilarious and the bond these coworkers have is equally funny. Jim and Pam give us some love interest but the rest is pure hilarity.
Unfortunately, these are the only shows I've been able to finish in the past couple years so they must be good, right? Judge for yourselves!
