You Can Still Have The Perfect Christmas Without Starring In A Hallmark Christmas Movie

Because who really has it all together during the holiday season?

I'm sure we've all tuned in at least once or twice during the Christmas season to the Hallmark Channel to watch their very festive Christmas movies, or if you're like me, every day after Thanksgiving. These movies always seem to have the most ideal scenarios and happiest of endings for the characters with perfect hair, makeup and smiles that star in their movies. I'm here to tell you that even though we love these movies, your Christmas doesn't have to resemble one of these Hallmark Christmas movies to be a perfect Christmas.

Here are some ways your Christmas can be absolutely perfect even if you aren't the star of a Hallmark Christmas movie:

Embrace that your hair won't always look perfect

Honestly, it's pretty unrealistic how untouched these characters' hair always looks, they could go through a blizzard or fall on their face while ice skating and no hair would be out of place. This Christmas season, I encourage you to embrace your bad hair days and realize that it really is just hair, your hair could be windblown or covered in snow but I promise it won't ruin your Christmas.

You don't have to have a love interest

It seems every main character of a Hallmark movie has some equally gorgeous man pining after them, completely infatuated with them. But in reality, even though it seems everyone is in a relationship or involved with someone at this time of the year, I promise you it is really OK to not have a special someone over the holidays.

Focus on family and friends and treat yourself to a Christmas gift for you, from you. Focus on all the positives of being single over the holidays instead of focusing on what you're missing out on when you're not part of a couple.

Your decorations don't have to be perfect

It is very important to remember while watching these movies that there is a whole team of people hired to decorate the set with perfect Christmas trees, mistletoe, and beautifully wrapped gifts. While your decorating skills may be up to par with these professionals, please refrain from looking from the TV screen full of garland, lights, tinsel, and sparkly ornaments to your singular sad tree with a few strings of lights wrapped around it.

Christmas decorations are so fun, but almost no one has the time or money to spend on putting up these Christmas decorations for a real-life house, apartment, or dorm room. Your decorations are beautiful and they should be thought of that way by you. Take some inspiration from these movies, but don't feel down about your decorations because of the set design that literally twenty plus people worked on.

They're just movies

Above all, remember that these movies are purely for a little boost of Christmas cheer and spirit during the holiday season, so use them as that. Don't compare yourself, your lack of a significant other, your decorations, or your Christmas to the Hallmark Channel. These are just a part of your Christmas, your focus should be on your family and friends and giving love and happiness to yourself and others during the most wonderful time of the year.

Because it is the most wonderful time of the year. Don't let yourself overthink your lack of perfection this Christmas because your Christmas can be perfect with a little happiness, a little love, and a lot of Christmas spirit.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
