Everyone loves the beach, and nothing says summer like the salty sea breeze in your hair, a dip in the cool ocean, the warm sand between your toes, and the hot summer sun beating down on your face! You are in paradise, even if it's just for a day. But if you're going to the beach, why not make it the perfect beach day?

So, here are the 10 must-have items for a perfect beach day.

1. Bluetooth speaker

Sure, the beach is great, but you know what makes it better? Music! Make a summertime playlist, connect your phone, and enjoy a day at the beach now with some theme music.

2. A book

Or maybe you're more of the quiet beach-goer. In that case, grab a book and make your way down to the beach. Sit there for hours lost in a book.

3. Beach games

Beach games are always a blast! Games like KanJam, Cornhole, Ladders, or something as simple as Frisbee can make any day at the beach more active and entertaining. It's nice to relax, but sometimes, it is great to have game options for those moments when you get a little bored.

4. Two beach towels

Two beach towels might sound a little extra, but if you're like me, then you probably like to lay in the sun on your towel. Now that your towel has sand on it, what will you dry yourself off with after going into the ocean?

I know I do not like using my sand-covered towel to dry off, so that is where towel #2 comes in. A nice, clean drying towel to make sure you're not covered in sand.

5. A hat

A hat is not only a great way to protect yourself from the sun, but it also makes for a cute beach accessory. So, find your best baseball cap or a large floppy hat, and rock your best beach bum self.

6. Snacks

If there's one thing that people love more than the beach, it would be snacks! When you're spending the day at the beach, you need to bring some quality snacks. So, stop by Wawa (or your local convenience store) and pick up all the snacks your heart desires.

7. Extra water

It's obvious to bring water to drink, but make sure you leave a bottle or two to wash off any extra sand that you don't want to take home with you.

8. A cooler

With water and snacks, you'll need a place to keep it cool and fresh, so it is very important to bring a cooler full of ice because no one wants to drink hot water or hot iced tea.

9. Beach umbrella and chair

I group these two items together because I think they go hand-in-hand with each other. But these two items are great because if you're like me, then you can't be in the sun for the whole day. So, when you no longer want to lay on your towel in the sun, sit in your chair and get some shade under the umbrella.

10. First aid essentials

As the group mom, I have to add this to my list. Things such as sunscreen, aloe, Band-Aids, and aspirin may seem obvious, but no one wants to ruin the perfect beach day with sunburn and a migraine. I am the planner for the worst-case-scenario type of person, so I never go to the beach without them.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
