‘Tis the season to start ordering one of my favorite seasonal Starbucks drinks, one of them including the Peppermint Mocha. Since it is now available in most locations, I thought I would commence my annual Peppermint Mocha of the season. I was sadly disappointed. In this time of deep disappointment, I decided to write a letter to my first Peppermint Mocha.
After a long 45 minute commute to Seattle from my small humble abode, I attended a two-hour work training. When I left the training the cold, crisp mid-autumn wind wept across my face. And at that moment I knew I needed something, my Peppermint Mocha.
Of course, I walked across campus to try and find this holiday drink.
In my moment of weakness, I ordered not only a tall but a grande peppermint mocha, the more the merrier right? After I received my Grande Mocha, I grabbed my basic college girl coffee collar and found a table to sit and read before my first class of the morning. I waited a little bit for the coffee to cool down before I did my taste test.
Here was the moment, I took a sip.
"Hmmm, interesting," I thought. It did not taste how I remembered it. So, I tasted it again. And again. And again. Here's the verdict: I was expecting it to taste of sweet peppermint with a hint of some freshly brewed coffee. I didn’t ask for it to taste like mint toothpaste. But here we are.
I waited in line for 10 minutes just to order it and waited for another five to receive it. The barista asked if I wanted whip, and I said of course, but even that could not cover up the syrupy, fake mint taste that so ungraciously touched my taste buds. I ask that next time, it please tastes more like coffee than syrupy mint.
I have nothing against you, Peppermint Mocha, I just wish my first one of the season did not disappoint me as much as today’s did.
I did drink it until the last drop, though, because I am a poor college student and couldn’t bear wasting my money like that.
