To All The People Who Have Broken My Heart
Laura Zerla

To all the people who have broken my heart,

Hey, it's me. The person you've probably been avoiding. The person who you haven't seen in forever. The person you thought you would never hear from. Well, here I am, writing to you. Yes, you. Now that I have moved on to the next chapter of my life, I feel the need to let go of unnecessary feelings of sadness, guilt, anger, and hate. I want to be able to move on with my life without having to constantly remind myself of what could've been or even in some cases what was.

First of all, I just want to say I trusted you. I trusted you with my heart. I trusted you with my feelings. I trusted you with things I thought I could never open up to anyone about. Still yet you found it easy to leave without a word. I used to hear from you every day and I used to look forward to every interaction I had with you. The next thing I knew, you were slowly sinking out of my life and you were pretending as if I was invisible. How do you think that makes a person feel? I got my hopes up for you and you're just another example of why I have a hard time letting people in.

Second, this letter is not only for relationships but it also reaches out to lost friendships. Over the past few years, I have felt hurt and betrayed by friends who I have opened up to and shared everything with and have instead decided to ignore me. It hurts when someone you enjoy spending all your time with suddenly decides they don't want to be associated with you anymore. To all my friends who no longer consider us friends, I mourn the friendship we once had and I hope that someday it can maybe be repaired.

Third, I just want you to know that I am content with myself. I am proud of where I am and I am proud of how hard I worked to get here. While I will apologize for the mistakes I've made in the past and for the fact that I'm not perfect, I am not ashamed of the person that I have become. While I am sad that I have lost you in my life, you do not hold me back from enjoying the best parts of my life. I'm doing just fine without you; despite what you may think.

Fourth, I still love you. Despite how we ended things, despite how long it's been since we talked, despite the fact that you may have hurt me, despite the fact that I may have hurt you, I still love you as a person. I love the memories we share, the inside jokes, and everything in-between. I long for the day that we can reconcile and go back to a relationship that we once had. Is that possible? I don't know but what I do know is that I'm always ready to try again.

Fifth, I hope you're living your best life as your best self. I hope you're happy. I hope you do what you love and love what you do and you don't care what anyone else has to say about it. As hard as it may seem, I want to see the best you. I don't ever want to see you sad, angry, or hurt. I was to see you striving for your best life.

Last but not least, I forgive you. Did you hear that? I FORGIVE you! No matter if you want forgiveness, or you don't. I forgive you. I forgive you for the hurt you've caused me. I forgive you for everything you've said, everything you've done, everything you should've said but didn't, everything. I forgive you and hopefully, you will do the same thing, and forgive me.

Love always,

A person who is moving on with their life while leaving the hurt and anger behind.

Hopefully, you can find it in your heart to do the same.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
